My wife got dementia at 55

when she first got diagnosed with dementia the doctors put her on all sorts of meds that result in complete memory loss and she was like a zombie most of the times. After some months I took it on me to reduce the meds and after a few days we started to see an improvement in her behaviour and manners. after 2 months of reducing the meds she could remember me and my son.

The spiciatrist gave me heaps for taking her of the meds His words was I DID NOT GO TO COLLEGE FOR 5 YEARS SO U CAN TELL ME WHAT TO DO but after talking to my wife 2 more times he agreed that I did the right thing as there was such an improvement

Today after 5 years of no meds she is at a stage where we can talk and she remembers her routine of everyday (just don’t chnage that or she gets completely confused)

Now some weeks ago she got very agressive and agitated and I took her to the doc again he then put her back on meds and within 3 days she was as useless as a piece of old string. Believe this or not but after taking her of the meds again and after 2 days she was almost her old self again (although she still don’t remember much)

In the last 7 years with her dementia we also discover that she does not notice the difference between cold and hot she cannot taste or smell anything and that is a big worry as I always have to check on what she is doing

And people please believe me as I say MEDS DON’T WORK it just makes them worce than what they realy are and it speeds the process on

We are running a demetia day care program now for such people and we have done the same with 26 people and they all improved although the memory will never recover. They are all happy and they all are so full of energy u would not believe it

Hope soem of u out there will find this usefull or can do coments on this

DOCTORS PLEASE WIPE THE CRAP out of your eyes and stop MAKING MONEY OUT OF SICK PEOPLE AND START DOING YOUR JOBS
