To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download My Experience When I was nine, I fell 15 feet from a window, and landed on the pavement with half my body wedged between the kerb and a car that was parked. It took paramedics and fire crews over an hour to safely free me, however I don’t recall any of this as I was unconscious. I was taken to the general ICU at the local hospital. I needed several operations to remove shattered parts of skull from my brain. My injuries included multiple skull fractures, fractured pelvis, dislocated knee(r), fractured knee(l), ruptured spleen, punctured lung, dislocated shoulder(l), shattered wrist arm and elbow (l), several broken ribs, and severe cuts and bruises. I had a 15inch gash down my left leg, which still looks horrible. I was in a coma for 4 months and had to stay in hospital for almost 2 years. I had to learn to do everything again. I’m 19 now and I still have to get physio for my leg, and I regularly see a counsellor. I guess I’m just thankful I made it. If anything, it’s taught me to appreciate every little thing we have in life. Comments
