Living with Chronic Pain

Hello I’m John Carter and I was close to graduating from college and about to start a new teaching career when I was struck down by horrible nerve pain.
PROBLEM Nerve pain in groin. Specifically to the scrotum and penis
It has gone on for 3 years now. The cause is something that took local doctors a year before even getting close to the obvious cause. I have to explain again and again to doctor after doctor. In the lower Lumbar the right L5 Transverse Process was enlarged to three times normal size and was grinding against the sacrum bone which is part of pelvis, the transverse processes so everyone knows are the bones that stick out from both sides of the vertebra going all the way down the spine. Many have referred to this as a pseudo-joint but that is misleading and especially for me because the right L5 Transverse Process for some reason had enlarged or calcified to around 3 times normally size and was touching or grinding against the sacrum. Or I was born with it and it didn’t start to hurt me until I was 25.
In any case before the groin nerve pain started the first pain I started to have was from bones impacting each other. I was starting my senior year and had to drive 1 hour to and from school. The pain in the lower right lumbar was so excruciating I could hardly drive. Then my torture became unbearable when SOMEHOW the collision of the sacrum and L5 spine bone TRIGGERED Radiating pain into my groin, specifically to my right scrotum.
The Uroligist decided that I had an infected epididymitis When antibiotics didn’t work he decided that removing or cutting out the epididymis from the scrotum was the best option. I was so desperate I had to agree in hopes of stopping the pain. So the surgery to cut the supposedly infected epididymis took place. I was left in even more pain which was killing me and this doctor just left me to die with no medication or help of any kind. During these several months I went to the emergency room again and again. The suffering went on and I went from doctor to doctor who were clueless.
It took almost 9 months until a doctor listened to me and agreed that the grinding spine bone vs. sacrum had to be related with groin pain. I was in a wheelchair almost constantly at this time. When I walked I had to use crutches and not walk on my right leg because it would increase the lower lumbar and nerve pain. By this time the nerve pain had expanded beyond the scrotal area and now caused pain to happen in my penis as well. It is a horrible stabbing pain in the head of the penis and is just debilitating. The pain gets worse the more I move. The only way to reduce the pain is to take pressure of my right side pelvis by laying on my right side and somewhat stretching so that my torso is leaning to the left. Also being in the fetal position with my knees under my chin takes pressure off the nerve somehow.
I have had only a few somewhat successful procedures. The first was when Dr Kemp did a rhizotomy of the L4-L5-S1 nerves above and below the transverse process. This procedure somehow managed to completely block the pain 100%. Unfortunately it lasted for only about 1 a half months then it wore off and pain returned other rhizotomies have been unsuccessful. It was finally decided to send me to another doctor who finally AMPUTATED or sawed off the right L5 Tran. Process. This took away almost all of the BACK pain. Removing the bone also help remove about 50% of the debilitating radiating pain to my scrotum and penis. However I am still left with so much pain from the damaged nerve or joint that I am greatly debilitated. The only other procedures that have helped are several injections that I had to the right sacroiliac joint. The temporary numbing medication would almost completely block the radiating pain to the groin for 6-8 hours before wearing off. This must be linked with the right transverse process grinding into the sacrum and into the sacroiliac joint. Remember that the pain and pressure of the grinding transverse process had me in a wheelchair for months.
I need help of some kind to find out how to block the nerve pain that is killing me everyday. I’ll go anywhere in the world to get surgery to stop this pain. I am currently taking LYRICA, GABAPENTIN, and AMITRIPTYLINE altogether and they are only partially able to help the high spikes of pain. One specific question I have is are there any other joint injection cocktails out there that are stronger than the standard numbing medicine steroid mix that go into regular sacroiliac joint injections. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated because all the doctors other than my family doctor tell that there is absolutely nothing that anyone can do treat my agonizing condition.
