Coping With Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease

I am a mother who has CMT I have two daughters that have it, they are 7 and 9. My 7 year old is worse of then my 9 year old. My 7 year old is having surgery done on her foot this friday and then two weeks later she is having surgery done on her other foot. My 9 year old has it but they say that she has no sign of it her dna test say that she has it. I passedd it on to my daughters, but I was told that i had it, but i did not know the name of it, so when i would ask the doctors to look for it we had no idea what i had so there was no way to cheack for it in my children. It took me to move to Florida to find a doctor that sent me to Shiners in Tampa to find out that my daughter had CMT So at the age of 6 we finaly found out what she had, if we would have found out when she was little she would not had to go through the surgery that she has to go through know. But to the great doctors at Shriner we know now what are children have. I am thankful that my two sons don’t have it, but they to have worry about passing it on to there children.
