My Twin Brother and Cerebral Palsy

My mother gave birth to me and my twin brother almost 48 years ago. She was in labor for 38 hours and the doctor decided to do an emergency C-Section. The cord was wrapped around my brothers neck. At 6 months old mom noticed that I was much further advanced then him. I was rolling over, reaching for things and playing with toys while my brother was just laying there. She took us both back to the doctor looking for answers. The doctor said that he was very sorry and had hoped he would out grow it but he has Spastic Quadriplegia CP. Mom said that she just wanted to take him and run with him.

You see it didn’t matter that he had C.P. because mom was told she couldn’t have children and after she adopted 2 babies God had gave us to her. She and my father loved us all unconditionally.

The lady that said God chose her to be the parent for her handicap son is absolutely right. My mother took care of my twin brother until she developed dementia 6 years ago at which time I became the primary care giver for both her and my brother. My mother passed in 2006 and now I am my brothers care giver. They told my mother that he wouldn’t live to be 21 and God willing we will turn 48 in Sept.

I to believe that God chose our family to give us our brother with C.P. So I beleive if God gives you a child with special needs that he chose you for a reason. Don’t question why, just Love that child unconditionally because I beleive that is why my brother has lived has long has he has. God Bless.
