My heart and soul

by: G.A. on Mon, Aug 06 2007

My little girl was born 2/2/95.She weighted in at an amazing one and half pounds. We were told from the beginning that she was going to have problems. That she was going to be a very special person. At two months old she went for her second shunt, for the first had failed to do the job. At three months of age she was finally allowed to go home.

She was born at only 24 weeks of being in my womb. We later as time went on she had problems as everyone said she would. But as time went on we pushed on therapy, and she eventually she learned how to sit and then to crawl and by the age of three she was off to school. She then learned how to take baby steps. She now walks with a walker, very little but to us she walks a mile. She has gone threw injections for her never ending leg cramps, shakes and pains.

She is now 12 years old and her teenage years aren’t what I that they were going to be for her but we take things and challenges on step at a time. One mile at a time. For my heart is darkened by retinal detachment , but as CP, we take it to one day at a time. She is also blind. But can read up a storm in braille. She will always be a very special person as once told by everyone, and she is. Proud parent

About 2 1/2 years ago I met Tony. He has cerebral palsy. He is a hard working man and he takes care of his four children. He looks like a normal person; it’s just his legs that he can’t move. He requires crutches to walk. I love this man because he is an example to me. [more..]

My son was born 10 weeks early, weighing 3lbs, 3ozs. The day we left the hospital in San Jose the doc told us that he had some bleeding on his brain. At the time I had no idea what it could cause, they only told me that later on in Ian’s life he may have some stiffness in his legs. [more..]

  • My Story (Cerebral palsy) - by TG - (Mon, Aug 06 2007)
I am a thirteen year old girl with a twn sister which I think is one of the reasons that I am ashamed of having CP. I was diagnsed at a young age and born at a very low birth weight. I have experienced first hand the pain, the difficulty and the setbacks of CP. I know how it feels to not be able to do someting as well as others and how it feels to be looked at and made fun of by strangers. [more..]
