My Story (Cerebral palsy)

by: TG on Mon, Aug 06 2007

I am a thirteen year old girl with a twn sister which I think is one of the reasons that I am ashamed of having CP. I was diagnsed at a young age and born at a very low birth weight. I have experienced first hand the pain, the difficulty and the setbacks of CP. I know how it feels to not be able to do someting as well as others and how it feels to be looked at and made fun of by strangers.
The first thing that bothers me is not having CP is people who are ungrateful not to have because it seems as if I could do anything to be normal that I would and when people take it forgranted it is purely unfair and almost criminal. I hate it when people tell me to do something like keep my feet straight or get mad at me for something I can not help like falling over or tripping. I feel as if I am an outsider to people and it hurts to know that my pain will never go away. I don’t understand why I am the 1 in 500 and why it had to be me all I know is that living with this awful physical imparment is painful, unfair and furiating but I do also know having this had made me stronger as a person and given me a chance to wish for something. I hate this awful disease with all my heart and would never wish it on my worst enemy. I know I have alot left to face and challenges to overcome I just hope I can.
