Benign Tumor

I was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in October of 2000 due to repeated seizures It was a very traumatic experience- I was diagnosed at my doctor’s office and sent to Mt. Sinai within the hour. 2 days later I had surgery and they removed a tumor- left frontal lobe- the size of a kiwi. I went for seven years continuing to have minor seizures and never told my parents of doctors- I feared it was back. Truth is, so I learned in March 2008, that my tumor still existed. I went through a battery of tests- it’s really not operable.

I underwent tomotherapy (advance radiation) for 6 weeks. Tumor did shrink some. The seizures stopped for a while but I began having them less frequently. I have been on different medications and Lamictal is working- I have been seizure free for 6 weeks. At one point, I was having seizures daily and sometimes more than once. There is no guarantee for anything. I continue leaving day by day. Fear would probably kill me faster if I let it. I have had so much support from family and friends and I have strengthened my faith. I will continue to live and help others even though this tumor is here for good. I am going to take advantage of each day! God Bless!
