Father had a brain tumor - now diagnosis as cancer

My father had weakness on his right side - arm, hand, leg 5 weeks ago. After MRI they diagnosis not a stroke or TIA but a brain tumor - Meningitis…2 weeks ago they removed the tumor that was the size of the surgeons fist, however, one portion that invaded the brain has now been diagnosised as cancer. He is currently in rehabilitation and has very little use of his right side - arm/leg. We are hopefull that this will come back with rehabilitation. He currently does not know that the small portion of tumor is now diagnosised as malignant - Melanomia. We are holding back telling him until he feels like he is back to normal. However, the doctors state that it is his right to know. We know this but want him to recuperate from surgery before giving him this bad news. We are unsure of ‘what next’ and want to know what prognosis will be long term.
