To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Anaplastic Astrocytoma I was diagnosed with an oligodendroglioma, grade 2, in 1996, when I was 27 years old. My doctor told me “to go home and live my life and there would be something available when I needed it because technology is changing everyday”. It was the best advice he could have given me. I monitor my tumor vigilantly and treat it aggressively. I’ve had 2 biopsies, 1 re-section, 18 months of Temodar, and 6 weeks of localized radiation. Recently, it recurred and the pathology had changed. I was diagnosed with an anaplasic astrocytoma, grade 3. I’ve recently started a clinical trial. I’m sharing my story because I want people to be inspired. I took my doctor’s advice twelve years ago and have gone on to marry the man of dreams, see two amazing children grow, and have a successful career. You can live a “normal life” and there are so many reasons to have hope. The advances made in the management of brain tumors have been phenomenal. And there are more to come… Comments
