I started with a severe pain in my head that was on and off for 3 days the pain started at the back of mmy neck up my head and in my ear. I finally decided to go to the doctors when i finally got a appointment i was told i had a ear infection and was given anti biotics. The day after visiting my gp I noticed that i had minimal movement in the left side of my face and i phoned nhs direct, I was told i was probably allergic to the medication. I wasnt satisfied with that answer and i knew there was some thing more than being allergic. I re attended my doctors but seeing another gp. The gp said i was fine and that there was no infection. I was really scared by this time as i had been given no indication to what was going on. I tried to explain to the gp that there was some thing not right with my face but he said this is just a check up and you are fine. I woke up the following morning and was really scared my face seemed a little worse. My partner kept looking at me and not saying any thing until I said I am going to a n e I think I uhave had a stroke By the time I got to a ane I was so worked up that my heart was racing and i was feeling the first signs of a panic attack. I was taking into a room a lovely friendly doctor came to examine me and was really re assuring He did many test and then said have you every heard of any thing called Bells Palsy I had heard of the condition but didnt really know too much about it. He did some more test just to make sure and he give me a prescription of steroids only a low dose due to the pregnancy. I was so relieved in one way I hadnt had a stroke but then in another was really upset I had got the condition. iwas really asnnoyed that the gp said there was nothing wrong with me and it was just a check up I am making a formal complaint againt the doctor due to him missing such a important diagnosis. The fact that i was given antibiotics and there wasnt a reason to give me them as no ear infection is present. I am now waiting to go to ENT for them to decide what to do. I am embarrased at the minute talking to people and eating as i feel I am making a mess. some words I am finding hard to prenounce but my bf and family have been very supportive so in a way i feel lucky I just hope that I dont have it for a long time as the watery eye not being able to smile and speak correctly is doing my head in already Comments
