Bells for the third time

I first got Bells 3 years ago after a trip to Hawaii -when I got off a smallplane. I knew I caught something on the plane -within hours I had burning fever and felt exhausted- about a week later while in Nantucket Mass-I woke up and could not blink or close one eye- I went to the emergency room and they said I had Bells Palsey from Lyme disease and that they get patients EVERYDAY with it because there is so much Lyme so I was treated with an antiviral and taped my eye closed for weeks until better-I NEVER tested positive for Lyme and I am sure I never had it–

The next year around the same time I came down with shingles and the follwing year -last spring I cam down with Bells Palsey again- I was in Florida -on vacation-I was 52 years old at the time and I was rushed to the hospital becasue they thought I was having a stroke it presented on both sides of the face- this time I was treated right away with predisione and valtrex an anti-viral and spent 2 days in the hospital.

I did facial exercises and my face eventually got almost completely better- I still have a little weakness which only I can notice- Now Here I am in Oct and back in Florida (my homeis NY) at our vacation house and I just got the sore on the front of my tongue that I have gotten both times right before I got Bells Palsey.I can feel my eye starting to be able to not close again!!- I really want to get to the bottom of this and get rid of whatever is causing it so I dont keep getting it- the doctors here last time said it was froma virus and they put me on valtrex for a year -so I am 6 months into taking valtrex every day and I am getting it again!!_

From all the things I am reading it seems that you can get it from undiagnosed diabetes so I wonder if I might have that- it runs in the family- I am going to the doctor tomorrow to see if we can catch it before it becomes full fledged bells again so I am going to ask for a diabetes test-Has anyone made a connection in their medical history between diabetes and bells palsey??

I dread whats coming again –Say a prayer -I think each time I get it I lose more facial muscle and look way older than I am!!!
