To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download My Recovery From Bell’s Palsy Hi, I woke up one morning 5 years ago when I was 28, two months after giving birth to my 2nd child and thought I had a stroke when I looked in the mirror. I had never heard of Bell’s Palsy. I called my mother at work and she was very calm and told me to call the dr. but that she thought it was BP. I went to the dr. and they gave me Valtrex, she said hopefully since you came right in we can help it along as it is the same herpes virus that causes this as the shingles. Then it hit me, my mother had Shingles about a month prior to the onset of my symptoms. I had been getting some ear and facial pain about a week ahead of time, but thought nothing of it as I have had chronic earaches since I was 2 years old. Well, the Valtrex did nothing. I was not getting any better and 3 weeks went by. My sister-in-law told me her aunt had it and went to a chiropractor who did a facial massage and it totally went away. I was skeptical, my doctor did not recommend it and she also said it probably would not help. After the first 3 visits, my face was almost back to normal! He gave me exersises to do at home and I did them dilligently. I went to a total of 5 appointments and my Bell’s Palsy was gone. The only side effect I have is that my left eye tears up mainly in the morning for about an hour and then it is fine. I so highly recommend this course of treatment. I wish everyone with Bell’s Palsy the best. Please remember those facial exercises, they make a big difference! Comments
