To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Oh no, did I have a stroke??? I woke up on 5/27/08, went to brush my teeth, clenched my lips to rinse my mouth when water shot out of the right side of my mouth. Futher examination revealed that my lips were not moving like normal and that my eye felt dry and didn’t blink correctly. I’m a 48 yr old male taking medication for high cholestrol and high blood pressure my immediate conclusion was that the doctor had been right, I would eventually have a stroke and here it was. I shared this with my wife and she insisted we go to the emergency room, which we did. There first diagnosis was a stroke Immediate panic!!! After an MRI, CAT scan, Ultrasound of my neck and 2 days in the hospital, they found no sign of a stroke and diagnosed my condition as being Bell’s Palsy. I’m glad because it appears that recovery is fairly quick and permanent paralysis is rare. This sure beats the idea of a stroke which usually results in permanant disabilities. Comments
