To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Limited success with exercises Well, it’s been almost 6 months and I have not recovered from Bell’s Palsy. I have been keeping a daily journal since it happened in February, 2007. I woke up with an ear infection and went to the ER. They diagnosed me as having cellulitis and gave me medication. Three days later I woke up with Bell’s Palsy. I went to a different ER where they confirmed it was Bell’s Palsy and I received a CAT scan (which I requested). My immediate healthcare physician told me that I did not need to see a specialist and that in time it would go away. I asked my doctor could this have been related to fact that it took over a year to get my thyroid medication level. He said “no” but I read that the thyroid could be a causing factor. In any event, I am seeing both my physician and my eye doctor on a regular monthly basis and, although my vision is normal, I am still having problems with keeping my eye open when doing certain facial exercises and my ear feels clogged (as when taking off in a plane). I am still getting a lot of facial twitching when doing self-care exercises and massage treatments to my scalp, neck and upper back muscles. I used Rattray’s protocol for exercises but had to modify. Right now I’m just patiently waiting like the rest of you. I also had a niece who experienced this but it only lasted a couple of weeks. She is in her twenties, I am 54. Blessings! Comments
