after i had my baby, i came home and had bad pain in my neck, but i thought it was my carpal tunnel which i had in my hand and was during my pregnacy [pregnancy]. in the morning i had tingling in the face and pain, i had no taste, but the pain was so bad i had to go to a&e. i was told my BP was very high and i need to stay in. it got worse, i was given steriods [steroids]. i lost my vision, i could not talk or close my eyes which was very dry, nor smile eat or drink, which i had to with a straw. the whole face was in pain. i then had guillian barre [Guillain-Barre] syndrome on top. i was in hospital for 3 weeks. one side is getting better slowly. i am much better then what i was before, and the other side is slowly improving. but with time, have strength, it will get better.

I was terrified.

I cant tell you how many times that exact thing crossed my mind!!! When I first got Bell’s, not being able to smile at my newborn was all I could think about. It still bothers me that I cant give her a genuine smile
