To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Bell’s Palsy & Pregnancy Hello. My name is Erica. Reading your stories made me realize there are others out there that KNOW how I feel. I got Bell’s when I was 8 months pregnant. I had very similar symptoms as most of you, although being pregnant masked things a little. I really just thought I must be getting migranes for the first time b/c of the pregnancy. I was treated with steriods & antivirals (even though I was pregnant - OB said it was fine). It’s been 9 months now and I’m still not back to normal. PLEASE dont let that scare those of you that havent had it long though. From everyone I’ve talked to that has had it or knows someone who’s had it, it’s VERY unusual for it to last that long. Most people recover fully within a few months at the most. For some reason it seems that if you get it when your pregnant it’s a little harder to recover from. Mine didnt even start to get better until I’d had it for 3 1/2 months. After 9 months, my smile still isnt right - which of course really bothers me, and I cant purse my lips to whistle or kiss. I am thankful that I can blink my eye now though. It was rough not being able to wear my contacts for 4 months! I am looking for a neurologist or physical therapist now that might be able to help me recover the rest of my face. If anyone has and advice on what kind of facial excercises to do or know of a web page that has that sort of info, that would be great. Also if anyone would like to reply, it would be nice to talk to someone else that is going through the same thing. It’s not the worst thing in the world, I mean it’s not life threatening, but it is frustrating & it does get to me sometimes as it does to some of you. Might be nice to be able to vent to someone who understands. Feel free to respond. Comments
