To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download waiting (not so patiently) for this to end Hi my name is Lisa. My husband and I were on a cruise to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and I started to get a sore throat on my left side. This was followed a day later with a sore ear. The pain was continuous with spasms of worse pain every minute or so in my neck below my ear. I started taking Tylenol for the pain. When flying home on 05/19/07 my lips felt like they were not lining up properly. When we got home and I looked into the mirror I could see they my lips were not lining up properly and my husband took me to the emergency room where I was told I had Bells Palsy The doctor prescribed 12 days of steroids. When I woke up the next day the Bells Palsy was worse. On the 12th day I went to my primary doctor who prescribed 4 more weeks of steriods. I am coming up on week 3 with Bells Palsy and even though others have told me that my eye seems to be moving more and I am looking better I cannot see any improvement. When I asked my doctor what causes Bells Palsy he said that they think it is a virus, but said that they really don’t know. I have been under a lot of stress lately and feel like that could be a possible cause, because I am a very healthy person, eat very healthy, and exercise 6 days per week. I am getting a little depressed now because it is taking so long to go away and even though people tell me it looks better, I feel they are saying that to make me feel better because I can see no improvement at this time. I have major hot flashes, the doctor says that the steriods will do that, food tastes terrible, and the blurred vision in my left eye makes it hard to work. I am waiting (not so patiently) for this to end. Comments
