I had Bells Palsy in November of 2006, which the first symptom was after brushing my teeth while rinsing I noticed that water was coming out of the right side of my mouth which I could not control. At the time I did not know and ignored it. That was a Saturday, by Monday at work my eye began to swell a little which I thought was a stye or allergies. Got home from work and by that evening the right side of my face was paralyzed and I as well thought that I had had a stroke Instead of going to the ER I thought if I went to bed this would be gone in the morning. Woke up and could to “puff” my cheek. Went to the Dr. that morning and began the steriods and the anti-viral medication. It took about a week to really notice that it was working. This past Monday night as I brushed my teeth and rinsed again, though on the left side, the water would not stay in. I was scared and thought this time I had a stroke. The reason for my thinking stroke was my doctor told me that the chances of getting Bells Palsy again were very slim if at all. Ended up in the ER with a CT of the brain and MRI of the brain and lots of blood work. Ruled out stroke and “could be” another episode of Bells Palsy. My blood pressure was 160/113 when I enter the medical facility. I believe that stress has caused my second “relaspe” of Bells. I have not taken any medication yet because the symtoms have not gotten worse…yet. Comments
