My son has autism……..

I am okay to talk about my son he was diagnosed on September 26, 2008 I will never forget that day for the rest of my life. We expect our kids to be everything and for it changed and I accepted it now. I cried and cried what did I do wrong? But I was in denial and so was my husband.

We were going to get a second opinion but we stopped and realized that we can’t be selfish and let our son go through a bunch of testing again. I prayed alot and I even prayed even more that this was a mistake which was not. I realized I can’t be sitting here feeling bad about my son and I had to help him and the sooner the better. I’m very grateful that it was diagnosed early and and intervetnions are inplace right now where three teachers come to the house and see him three times a week.

I have seen alot of improvement in him and he has a mild case of autism and can still lead a normal life. Ever since he was little he always loved hugs and kisses and I call him my snuggle bug because that is what he is to me. I read a article in the people’s magazine about the singer/actress Toni Braxton on how her son was diagnosed with autism. It was what her friend said to her and it changed my life and outlook towards autism. Her friend described autism “They are God’s new angels are here to show us how to look at life in a whole new way” I went into tears when I read that and in that moment I needed to hear that. That is so very true and I wanted to share that with those of you are reading my story today and thank you for giving me the time to share my story.
