Living with Asperger's Syndrome

My Anthony is a beautiful,intelligent ,caring boy who is 6 years old and does have Asberger’s [Asperger’s] Syndrome. We do see a therapist on a monthly basis,just to help us and him gain a better understanding of our situations..

Anthony started first grade at local neighborhood school and does attend daycare on a reguilar basis. Lately, he hasn’t been listening as well as he should be, and loses attention during school time. During school hours, he does have sensory timeouts and does wear sensory ear muffs.

My main concfern is his lack of paying attention to the teacher and not listening to any teacher’s instructions. Both daycare teacher’s and his first grade teacher have told me that he hasn’t shown approiate behavior during classroom activities.

Please help me, I want him to achieve to his best abilities at school and daycare surroundings. I’m afraid that his not listening to the instructors is going to decrease.

Should I consider medication to ease his focus issues. I’m partially afraid of these drugs because of the known side affects. I need help.
