My Uncle had ALS

by: Disa on Thu, Dec 20 2007

My uncle was diognosed with ALS eariler this year. Someone explained it to me as loseing control of your mucles and not being able to use them. I visted his house every week on tuesday. He was getting worse and worse each time. The last time I saw him alive he was watching “Burn Notice” (his favorite show). He looked really skinny and his eyes where sucken in. He looked like a liveing skeloton.

He also lost the ability to speak freely and my Aunt didnt kmnow what he was saying. Therefore she couldn’t know what he wanted. Later that week on wensday they took him to the hospital to have a feeding tube put in. My uncle didn’t want to have the surgery. Although my dad and my other uncle’s talked to him and convinced him to have the surgery.

On Friday of that week, just days after the surgery, he died. Me and my mom where driveing out in temple when we got a call from my dad. He had died that morning. It seemed I couldn’t stop crying. I was so close with him. And now he is gone. I lost my closest uncle to ALS during a summer vacation when I was suposed to be haveing fun.
